SML Architects is a Mumbai-based studio specializing in bespoke architecture, interior, and furniture design. We engage with projects of varying scales across all sectors, striving to create experiential architecture that is both contemporary and contextual. We believe in crafting spaces that offer unique and immersive experiences.

Our work has been prominently featured in numerous national and international publications Including Architectural Digest, Elle Decoration, Trends and Hello among others. In 2021, Trends Magazine honored our "Window Seat House as one of the top 10 homes in India. In 2022, Hello Magazine india included SML Architects in its July issue, highlighting us as one of the "Best Names and Practices Shaping india's Design Landscape," showcasing a talented group of interior designers and architects to watch.

We recently completed a significant project at the prestigious Jaffna Cultural Center in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, where we co-designed and constructed the façade for the "Learning Tower"

Mahek Lalan

Mahek Lalan is a practicing architect and the founder of SML Architects. He graduated with a degree in Architecture from NMIMS's Balwant Sheth School of Architecture, Mumbai, in 2012. He is a registered architect under the Council of Architecture (COA), India. At SML he oversees the design, research, and execution of all the projects at all scales. In 2022, he was recognized by Hello magazine as one of the ten designers to watch in their article 'The Future Of Design' in India.

In addition to his professional practice, Mahek has taught architecture design at NMIMS's Balwant Sheth School of Architecture (BSSA) and ISDI Parsons, Mumbai, for over eight years. His commitment to education extends to serving as an invited critic and jury member on design panels at various architecture schools across India.
